Published: 29.04.2021 Our new DWDM system Moscow-Warsaw-Frankfurt Telecommunication operators – Polish Hawe Telekom and Russian UL-com Media and FIORD (partners in the PING-WIN project), have jointly completed a key investment – DWDM between Moscow, Warsaw and Frankfurt. The tests confirmed RTD of 31.6 ms. The joint project of Hawe Telekom and FIORD is the result of partnership and long-term cooperation. It will allow companies to increase their share in the data transmission market between Russia, Poland and Western Europe. The project has been successively implemented since autumn last year. In the first stage Hawe Telekom launched the Warsaw–Vilnius section, then it completed the extension of its DWDM network to Frankfurt am Main. The investment is a response to the need for access to key destinations in Russia, as well as to global providers of content, cloud services and OTT located in Poland and Frankfurt. The Moscow-Warsaw-Frankfurt transmission system is the latest of Hawe Telekom’s investments based on a partnership with a telecom operator from abroad, and the most significant and promising of them. We have launched one of the most modern long-distance DWDM network systems in the region, which is a targeted response to customer demand. The achieved RTD is very competitive and we have already started work on reducing it below 30 ms end-to-end – emphasizes Przemysław Gągała, International Sales Director at Hawe Telekom. During the tests of the Moscow-Warsaw-Frankfurt route, a RTD of 31.6 ms was confirmed, which is a result similar to the best available between these endpoints. Work is underway to improve this parameter by shortening the optical length. Nx10G and Nx100G transmission circuits are available, and the total system capacity is at least 12 Tb/s. The system enables detection and localization of fiber damage. Organization of the Moscow-Frankfurt route is a logical continuation of our PING-WIN project. Interconnecting PING-WIN infrastructure and Hawe Telekom infrastructure made it possible to create a unique route between points of key importance for Russia within a few months, as well as to provide alternative routes from Western and Central Europe to Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Vilnius and Riga – notes Andrey Ershov, General Director of JSC “Ul-com Media” (PING-WIN project). The launched system fully met our expectations. The tests confirm the potential of this investment and the achieved RTD between Moscow and Frankfurt is better than we had expected at the planning stage.
