Network security When designing its telecommunications network and services, Hawe Telekom takes into account a whole range of possible events threatening the continuity of services and applies the best available security measures. Properly used network components, i.e. the appropriate infrastructure and devices as well as the right way of using them, ensured by an experienced team of experts, primarily determine the level of network security. The combination of these two factors, i.e. the unique infrastructure of the Hawe Telekom National Fibre-Optic Network and many years of experience in providing services for telecommunications operators, determines the security of the networks and services provided by Hawe Telekom. Daily operation of over 4,000 km of intercity fibre-optic trunk line has allowed us to develop a model where care for network security is manifested in three basic aspects: Design – security embedded in the network: 100% underground, multi-hole technical cable ducting system, one consistent standard for the construction and maintenance of fibre-optic infrastructure, two fibre-optic rings: north and south, geographically separate fibre-optic routes, two routes to the customer and their POP, redundancy of routes, devices, suppliers, active protection methods: ASON, MPLS, BGP, etc., all works in the vicinity of the trunk line of the HAWE Telekom National Fibre-Optic Network are performed under the supervision of technical services. Prevention: Network Management Centre operating 365/7/24, The Hawe National Fibre-Optic Network was the first in Poland to be comprehensively equipped with a system for remote OTDR measurements, which enabled the detection of anomalies and the prevention of network devastation, constant supervision of the line infrastructure and active participation in Coordination Meetings (over 100 counties in Poland), cooperation with designers, periodical inspections and measurements of tele-technical infrastructure by specialized maintenance teams. Recovery: evenly distributed service teams ensuring instant response to network incidents, local fibre-optic teams immediately beginning work to eliminate fibre-optic failures, 75% of fibre-optic trunk line failures eliminated in less than 6 hours, 99% of fibre-optic trunk line failures eliminated in less than 8 hours.
