Hawe Telekom and Datagroup complete joint project

Hawe Telekom and Datagroup completed the construction of a cross-border DWDM interconnection. It is located near the Dorohusk-Jahodyn border-crossing on the Poland–Ukraine border, has a potential bandwidth of at least 16 Tb/s.

The new DWDM PoP on the Poland–Ukraine border is Hawe Telekom’s and Datagroup’s latest joint investment completed as part of their cooperation launched in 2014. The new project enables more effective organisation of transmission channels between Frankfurt, Warsaw, Kiev and Hong Kong.

“I strongly believe that thanks to our latest investment we will be able to offer transmission links with competitive RTD. We have recorded a consistently growing interest in our services, we are continually expanding the range of our products, which is why the new DWDM PoP will allow us to handle traffic between Ukraine, Poland, Germany and Asia more effectively,” stressed Volodymyr Lutchenko, Chief Technical Officer, Datagroup.

This is yet another Hawe Telekom’s project focused on the international market. In the last two years, the company launched an access point in Frankfurt am Main, upgraded a DWDM interconnection point on the Poland–Lithuania border, and in early 2021 it completed the extension of the DWDM network on the Warsaw–Vilnius section. The company has consistently pursued its long-term strategy to construct a DWDM transmission system between Moscow and Frankfurt.

“The joint project with our Ukrainian partner is a response to the ever growing demand for connectivity between Poland and Ukraine, in particular for the purpose of providing access to data centres of global suppliers of content, cloud and OTT services located in Warsaw. Such major players as Google or Microsoft already invest in Poland, and others announce new developments. We believe that Poland already serves as a bridge between Europe and Asia, which is confirmed by our project,” said Przemysław Gągała, International Sales Director at Hawe Telekom.
